Any street style pro worth her salt owns that one perfect black blazer. An enduring wardrobe essential – that timeless black blazer is universally agreed to be a a trans-season must-have, easily dressed up with a pair of tailored black pants and pointed pumps or a slip dress, or down with t-shirt and jeans or cut-offs with minimal effort involved.
Unfortunately, the search for the perfect blazer seems to be as mind-boggling as the one for the perfect white shirt. Do I go for structured or slouchy? Do I want the classic silhouette, double-breasted or something with a little more edge, say metallic buttons or a silk lapel? Perhaps you’d like a classic Saint Laurent Le Smoking tuxedo jacket, or maybe one of Balmain’s signature military-meets-nautical blazers with the hardware. Decisions, decisions, decisions!
Tell me what your ideal black blazer looks like, or whether it’s even possible to have just one to begin with. If you haven’t found your perfect one, perhaps some of my edit below will help you out.
