I don’t know whether it’s the assassinator look or the stark black and white mood filter to my photos, but it got me thinking today. When we were young, people (including our parents) asked us what our dreams were and what we wanted to be when we grow up. And gradually as we grew older, people altogether just stopped asking us that very same question. And eventually we stopped asking ourselves that exact question and we get lost in living life.
A few years ago around this time, I felt like something was missing. The creative side of me was feeling neglected. No matter how successful my Professional career was soaring. I was traveling to some of the most remote areas in the World, meeting with inspiring Leaders to discuss leadership development, succession planning, etc., because that is what I do and do best at.
And I was giving the exact schpiel to instil the importance of identifying potential and differentiating them from someone’s competencies. And to conclude I was speaking of dreams and that all it takes is an initiator.
While my ultimate dream was to become a fashion designer, I took a different avenue and grew very fond of it. But have continued to relentlessly pursue my creative outlet by photography and blogging. They say everything happens for a reason, and maybe blogging has become my blessing in disguise. The opportunity to inspire and express myself creatively without borders. There is nothing more rewarding than that. And like I mentioned before, there will always be those that talk, but they are just talkers. So why not give them something worthwhile to talk about.
The first step in taking your dreams and thoughts and building it into reality is the hardest part. But once you do that, the rest becomes history.
Be the initiator.
